Oneiro Cosmo part 2

Before the game, every group works together to prepare the props for the game such as the oneiro chair, the clues and  the glowsticks.

At 7, We gather in front of the student life centre. The commander officer ( Jien Li) gave us a briefing about the game. At about 7.15 pm, the game started. Our group is the " stalker team" . Our job is to follow the lecturers during the game and report their actions and their progress of the game to the game masters. Besides, our group is responsible to record the progress of the game in video and photo form. Below will be some of the videos we took during the game.

Oneiro Cosmo part 1

Our group is in charge of booking the rooms for the game. We went to the Divisional Office to get the booking form. After that we filled up the form and bring it to Mr. Charles for comfirmation and passed up the form to Divisional Office.

After 3 days we went to check for the booking comfirmation and the bookings are approved. Below are the rooms we booked for the game.

Decision

A week after the presentation, Mr. Charles had chosen 2 simulation games from 2 different group which is the flamimg pandas and nothing is true, everything is permitted.

Due to fairness, Mr. Charles suggested a vote and Flaming Panda's Oneiro Cosmo won the vote.

8th Discussion - Choose!!

We made some decisions on the names and the games we are going to play

Besides, we also decided which group will have which power and the lecturers ( Team Plankton )will have the power Mimicry which is the ability to absorb other peoples power points.

7th Discussion - Fuse!!

We decided to fuse our simulation with music.

In the game there will be times which the players will need to use music to pass a mission.

We will let them sing and make some rhythms using the things around them such as leaves, cups, pots and pans and so on. 

There will be games related to music and it would be much interesting if we combine the missions with super abilities. It will be like doing the missions in a musical dream world.

6th Discussion - Play!!

Last week, I came across a game called Dynasty Warriors. It is a game that revolve around the olden days with a famous history as its game background. The warrior will have to kill the big boss to carry on to the next level.

We had an agreement where the students will need to have telematch with the lecturers and win them in order to get into the next level of the game and get the next clue to the mystery.

Besides, Seen Ying also suggested playing frisbee as one of the games. She explained that frisbee is not just playing throw and catch. There is actually a sport called ultimate. 

These are the rules for Ultimate:

The two teams begin at opposite end zones and try to advance the disc to the other end zone. The disc is put into play by one team throwing off to the other team. This throw-off is called the pull.  Once in play, the disc may be moved only by passing, so the player holding the disc must stay put (but may pivot on one foot). If a team successfully advances the disc into the end zone, that team scores a point, the teams swap directions, and the team that scored pulls to the other team.

If a pass is incomplete, intercepted, or caught out of bounds, the disc will belong to the opposing team. Another way to change possession is that the player holding the disc, called the thrower, has a limited time to throw the disc: A defensive player within 10 feet of the thrower may loudly count to 10, and if the disc is not thrown within 10 seconds, the defense immediately gains possession. This defensive player is called the marker, and the audible count is called the stall count.

There are a couple rules concerning fouls. One type of foul is called a "Throwing Foul". This foul can be called when there is non-incidental contact between the thrower and the marker. When the disc is in the thrower's possession it is considered to be part of the thrower. A foul can be called when a defensive player is attempting to block a throw. When a defensive player initiates contact with the disc after an offensive player has gained possession of the disc, and the offensive player as a result loses possession of the disc, then this is considered to be a "strip".

Since we had our story and the slight direction on how the game is going to be carry out, we shared our experience on the games we had played during camps, school activities and hanging out with friends.

Some of the games will contribute in how the station game will be.
We played some of the games by using the things around us.

One of the most used props will be the balloon and water.

Besides, we also thought about the flow of the game.

In the simulation, there is dimensions. The players need to go to the dimensions to accomplish their missions and accumulate points to win the game.

The dimensions will be set up as different stations. Clues and a map will be given to each group to find their following stations after they finish their first station.

The lecturers will be given missions on setting up the games and act as a game master while having their own missions. The lecturers will be the dark forces and the students will have to win them in some of the games to get the next clue.

Since our game is about super abilities, each group will be given super abilities to help them in the process of solving the mystery of the 4 original power users.

4th Discussion - Look!!

After the reference and we got the basic direction of how would the game goes, we will now put in some observations our group members made into the simulation. The observation session is being carried out for 2 weeks and the observations of each group members are as stated below.

Basic Storyboard

After connecting the small parts in the mind map, we came out with a simple storyboard.

In this world, there are 12 dimensions that exist side by side with Bikini Bottoms, a dimension where evil resides. Evil has taken over other eleven dimensions. However, there is a dimension where the outcome has yet to be decide.

At the dimension, there are 2 types of human. One with super abilities and people with no ability.

Stanleigh was in charged with the mission to find a people with super abilities to become the savior of the world to turn the tide against the dark force. His search leads him to a boy named Max. At first he thought Max has no abilities, but when he sense his enormous powers, he started suspecting that Max might have the potential to become the savior of the world.

Max’s incredible power is sealed away by a patch on his neck making him a normal human. Any attempt to use his power would awaken Zack, an evil entity in him. Before he could become the savior of the world he needs to learn how to suppress Zack. But, Zack is not the only obstacle Max has to overcome to become the savior of the world. In order for Max to become the savior of the world, he must find the four original power-users of wind, fire, thunder and ice and transfer it into his body.
Four families with different abilities will be on a mission to help Max with his progress on becoming the savior of the world. Can they win the war and defeat Bikini Bottoms?

3rd Discussion - Learn!!

After we showed our simulation mind map to Mr. Charles, He told us to make some reference on some games and movies that could help in the making of our simulation game.

For our group, we make some reference on the movies and games with super abilities. We also refer on reality television games.

We make some reference on their super abilities and story board. How they work together to save the world.

These reference leads us to the ideation for the game play of our groups simulation. 

2nd Discussion - ASK!!

To elaborate the choices we made on the last discussion, we came up with a few questions which will helps to bring our game event a little bit further. 

These are the questions:

1. How many dimensions are there going to be?

2. What happened in the dimensions?

3. What is the characteristics of the players?

4. What is the background of the main characters?

5. Will there be power for everyone?

6. How to break the curse?

7. What will be the elements in the super abilities?

8. What is the use of the elements/

9. What kind of mystery will there be/

10. How do you win the game?

Ideation Phase =)

During the last class, Mr, Charles asked us to transfer our ideas of the game into a mind map. We need to choose a genre for the simulation and expand more about the themes that are possible to go together with the genre.

For our group, we pick up adventure as our main theme. In our mind map, there is some sub-genre such as survival and mystery. We  put in 2 sub-genres to make more possibilities that we could expand and eliminate the weaker ideas later. We think that it will be more interesting if there are wars and obstacles so that there will be hunting, war games,investigations or even something like amazing race. We also thought of combining the 2 genres together to create a fun game. Survive by solving mysteries and completing quest or task would be a good way to transform a flat game into a real life simulation.

Whereas for the theme of the game we used super abilities because it is more interactive and appealing. Who wouldn't want super powers which u can fly above the sky, and be invisible so that u can eat or the food in the restaurant without being noticed. Well maybe stealing food is a bad idea. In the real life, there will be no such things as super abilities so why not dream a little bit and equip ourselves with super powers for a few days so that we can have fun. Besides, we also place dimensions as a possibility in our game where there will be different forces and a number of dimensions which have wars with the evil forces. And there will be things happening between the dimension.

Since Mr. Charles didn't check our mind map on that day, we decided to just work with the plan.

Introduction to the Simulation

Mr. Charles gave us a short brief about the group project that we are going to work on for the following weeks. This will be our major project as we need to create a real life simulation game to be carry out during our class trip before the end of semester.

The 3 of us are actually quite lost as we don't know what our background of the game should be and where will it be carry out. Although we are confused about what we need to do now, the ideas about the game starts to pop out and at least having a slight direction about the game will be better then nothing at all.

Muruku Coconut =D

During the first class, Mr. Charles gave us a short brief on the grouping system. He explained the Game rules for grouping and we were told to get into a group of 3. Each group will have a group leader and everyone plays a role in the group as the realist, critic and the dreamer. We need to create a group blog and name after we have our own group. Me ( Seen Ying ), Kokulan and Max formed a group .After a short discussion, I was elected as the leader because I'm the only girl in the group. Max is the dreamer, Kokulan as the critic and I will be the realist. 

I'm pretty sure some of our fellow readers are curious about our group name. Where did we even get the idea of using muruku and coconut as our group name? Well it all started with a random conversation and one of our team mate Mr. Kokulan was being called as coconut due to the pronunciation of his name. And where we got the work muruku? Mr. Max of course. He just pop out the word muruku out of nowhere and we decided to put that into the group name since it goes well with coconut. There it goes, Muruku Coconut.
